"Who Shot JR????" That was the page turner that kept us coming back to this first evening soap opera of the century. Now they are all back and they are OLD.
Most of the show seems to have the young cast members in the action but when the old stars come on I can't help but stare. I feel like one of them.
It is like seeing a friend you haven't seen in forty years. Greed and old money have corrupted them all. I can't really follow the story line but it seems quite similar to the old ones. Lavish Texas houses surrounded by vast farmland. They are having the last barbque at South Park.
"Everybody wants something JR." He is still after South Park. The splits and marriages always were difficult to follow. They are even more complicated with the children all grown up in relationships of their own. It reminds me of my own life with my grown up children. What a journey it has been with so many unexpected tangles.
"It's pretty clear how you will compromise your integrity for money." Ahhh that is a classic line. The advertisements are about five minutes long each break. I wonder what the ad ratio to tv time was back when the show first aired. Money is following this series make over. Too bad most of the generation that grew up with Dallas doesn't have much.
Dallas is about the one percent but it isnt very political. It is more about family dynamics and the push of a dynasty. Being wealthy has a price. They all pay in this series and I expect the new version will have just as much karma as the historic show.
I have to admit that I still find the leading men sexy. The young generation isn't bad either. Wealth and Good Looks. What a combo. I knew that I was getting older when guys with grey hair looked good to me. Now I must really be old because I like them all. The women are gorgeous as well. Manipulating bitches involved with lots of blackmail and intrigue seem to be cross generational.
Oooooo I just noticed JR's eyebrows. They are swept up into points at the tip. Oh my. He looks devilish as he plots his next move in the oil business. Drugs seem to play a bigger part in the new show. Alcohol was always a part of most scenes in the past. And a big plot line involves an Email! That is something new. The world turns and turns again. They have been picked up for a second season and are on Wednesdays.
"Southfork was always meant to be mine since the beginning." JR is a creep and I wonder who will shoot him this time?
