I found a new combination of tastes when a mouthful of potato chips met a handful of raisins and brought my mouth a sweet, salty combination that had me going back for more. I'm always looking for thrills like that and when I find one I can't get enough. I… Read full post »
I found a book of Ray Bradbury stories. I have been sitting in the backyard reading them and they blow my little mind. He and Gene Roddenberry who created Star Trek were friends. Both seeded our universe.

Have you ever had a cocktail and cruised around Open Salon? I have. I don't do it very often but right now I have had a Screwdriver on a mellow afternoon and it is so nice to float around.
Life is tough. Booze makes it more difficult in… Read full post »
It was the perfect profession for him as his hearing had been amplified since he lost his sight. That horrible day in Chemistry class when the two elements had combusted right in his face was still vivid in his mind. He had collapsed onto the floor screaming. … Read full post »

I've been playing with my photos by my campfire in Second Life. I even put my avatar in a few of them. Too fun to get right inside your work. There are am… Read full post »
I'm never really suprised when a good writer takes a sabbatical from Open Salon. This is an intense place. I know Cranky Cuss said he might be back in a week or a month but he didn't say never. He didn't flounce. He just needs a break. I can totally… Read full post »
Patty Rabbit was a girl in my grade school with dark hair and thick glasses. We talked about ideas and enjoyed each other's company. I wish I could have kept her as a lifelong friend but my mother told me to stay away from her because her parents were Communists.… Read full post »
The things that have evolved in my life and the people that I have had relationships with have all seemed unstable to me. I must have some sort of magnet for attracting dysfunctional people or maybe everyone has something they are working on that is damaging. No one is perfect… Read full post »
We went to a REAL Deli yesterday. DZAkins in San Diego. The tables were full and the place was buzzing as usual. After our corned beef sandwich we explored the deli section. Oh my.

From a rocky lot in the middle of the city to an intimate garden
with spirit, my friend created an oasis where I found a place to
He bought this house in Seattle and when I visited he put me up in the garden room. But… Read full post »
We love to explore the country around the small towns by the Mexican border where we live. About 4,550 ft up into the mountains Highway 8 snakes over the pass where people have crossed from Arizona to the coast for centuries. … Read full post »

This country did not need to shut down. I don't really care about all the details or the measly 1.2% decrease in spending but I am personally glad we are going forward after the midnight deadline tonight. My life just couldn't take another disappointment. No one likes t… Read full post »
"Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened the birds began to sing,
Oh wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king?
The king was in his counting house counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlour… Read full post »
I took care of Gladys for the last two years of her life. She loved her stuff more than people and when her cousin and I moved in with her for a few days after she fell and hit her head twice we found hoarder conditions… Read full post »
In the online world of Second Life you can buy a plot of land and develop it any way you please. I love to create gardens. This land was not by any "water" so I put in a big lake. I put the clouds in the sky and… Read full post »
The warm wind rolled up the valley this morning slamming doors and making people go out and pretend to fly.

We had our first drink in a month. It was fun, tasty and easy. We remembered our daily cocktails. It would be easy to get into that pattern again. But it is so expensive! One good thing about having less money is that you can't afford excess.

I am defined by who I cared for and who cared for me. My mother cared for me in a military, medical way that was too intense. She was from a poor insecure childhood and wanted me to be beautiful and successful. She groomed me to be a… Read full post »
Sleeping with my head on the dirty window as the rain came down outside near Juneau, I missed my bus stop. As I frantically grabbed for the cable to ask the bus to stop at the next stop I wondered where I was. How long had I been sleeping? I… Read full post »
