You know the world is full of all kinds of sickness, yet still I am shocked at each new variation of the sickness. Today I learned of another one. Animal "Crush" movies. Crush films are videos of small animals being crushed by being stepped on. These films depict instances of animal cruelty, and/or pornographic acts with animals, usually involving the crushing death of an animal, including insects, mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, monkeys, birds, cats, and dogs. In 1999, the US government banned the depiction of animal cruelty, however the law was overturned by the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which ruled that these films were protected as free speech.(http://randazza.wordpress.com/2008/07/20/united-states-v-stevens-protecting-animals-is-not-a-reason-to-amputate-part-of-the-first-amendment/)
Normally when I hear the word "ban" I get a little nervous because you can't ban something with out opening the door to also banning other things that should not be banned. Then there is the fact that calling for the banning of anything also promotes that thing at the same time, but this time I cannot, with good conscious, not stand up and say "THIS MUST STOP!"
You can go to http://www.petitiononline.com/bancrush/petition.html and add your name. I hope you will.

Trig, I do think the internet just allows us to see more of the sickness out there which is not necessarily a bad thing. The more we are aware of these things the more we can act against them.
Cap'n, kill all the cockroaches you want, just not within earshot of me! I can't stand the sound! It's like fingernails on a chalkboard and nauseating at the same time!
