This message is being distributed via a pamphlet titled “Pleasure”. The motto being “an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away”. It also says that all the experts talk about the healthy benefits of fruits, vegetables and 30 minutes of physical activity but not about the role of sex, which should be at least 2 times a week. I won’t argue with that theory either!
It’s not hard to understand why they feel the need to better educate their youth on sexual matters when looking at teen pregnancy and STD rates. Britain’s teen pregnancy rate is the highest in Western Europe, and half of all teen pregnancies in England end in abortion. An official from the “orgasm a day” program, Steve Slack, claims that the program will, in fact, help children to delay sex until they are sure they will enjoy the experience. Uh, yeah, sure. Obviously Mr. Slack has no recollection of being a hormones-going-crazy teenager.
While I’m not so sure they really understand the reasons for teenage promiscuity, their message does have merit for us all. Science has long spoken about the link between regular sex, orgasms and good health. The more sex you have, the longer you live they say with three orgasms a week equaling an addition of 8 years of life. I always wonder exactly how they know that a person lived X amount of years longer just because they were lucky enough to have 3 orgasms a week! But I digress.
Science also tells us that sex even once or twice a week increases our levels of immunoglobulin, something in our blood that fights infections, to 30% above the level of those who have no sex. Not having a sexual partner is no excuse to not reap the benefits either, as apparently our bodies do not know the difference, scientifically speaking, between sex between two (or more) people or masturbation. As another blog I read on this subject said: “It is important everyone regardless of age and sex, to enjoy the sex. Communication between two bodies and two souls. Presence or absence of love and unselfish partner should not be an obstacle to send yourself a little luck and a lot of orgasm.” (sic – as translated from Bulgarian, don’t ask, hehe).
Hmmm, well, all I have to say at this point is “Here’s to at least 8 extra years of life for me!”
