Ode to a Ruth's Diner Biscuit

Rate: 15 Flag

You catch my eye the minute I step in through the door
Standing there so tall and beautiful!
What are you? I want you from the second I see you!
The woman with you pinches you then tastes you right
there in front of my eyes.
I am jealous!
I want you for myself! I don't want to share you!
The likes of you have come and gone in my life,
but you are like none before!
So big and luscious, my mouth waters with want of you!
Then suddenly you are there!
Right in front of me,
inviting me to lose myself in the bliss that is you!
So rich, so moist, so buttery!
Biscuit nirvana!

If you should come to Salt Lake City sometime, you MUST stop at Ruth's Diner in Emigration Canyon.  If for nothing else than these biscuits and a cup of coffee!  This picture in NO WAY does them justice!  I'm not even a big fan of biscuits but these babies are truly to die for!

Ruth's Diner has an interesting history and Ruth herself is a fascinating read all by herself.  You can read her story by clicking on the link above. It's short but well worth a minute of your time to read.

I'm jealousing. If my car ever gets properly repaired, I may make the drive.
Man, more Utah stuff! I knew immediately when I saw "Ruth's Diner" in the title. Love the place. It's a don't miss on any trip to SLC.
Makes me want to break one open and slather it with homemade sausage gravy!
Well, come on down Cap'n! Get that car fixed! :) Funny how you look like Brother Brigham today!

So you know the bliss of which I speak Kathy! hee hee

Walter, Walter, Walter.........somehow that just doesn't sound right. Call me a biscuit purist. ;)

Duane: Mmmm, licking my lips........ ;)

Ralph: If you'd gone during the summer on a Thursday night you could have had BBQ and live music! But any time is a good time for those biscuits!
Actually Trig, she does do gravy too.
How delectable was that! My mouth is watering!
Oh, this leaves me a little breathless. I love warm biscuits - with butter right. Please tell me with lots of butter. I've never been to Utah, but I kinda like the sound of this.
Glad you liked it MAWB!

Natasha, Yes, butter, LOTS of REAL butter! Come to Utah and be prepared for mouthfuls of bliss!
I am a biscuit connoisseur and that is the most erotic poem to a biscuit I know that I've ever read. I think I need a cold shower after that one. What a heavenly biscuit! Can you ship them?!
No shipping Michael, biscuits must be hot and fresh, just like...... well, you know ;)
OH Yummy.. I am hungry for biscuits now.. Oh and with gravy lots of it, poured over the top..

Nobody, and I mean nooooo body, makes biscuits like a southern mama!

Yummmy.
If I could Nanatehay, it would be there already. ;)

Got a napkin for a ya Tink.......

Gracie, I've never had a biscuit made by a southern mama, but I would be willing to put this slice of heaven up against one. hehe
Oooo, careful there JK with the scone reference! I've been have a debate with an Aussie friend over whether this is a biscuit or a scone. Just a side note, they had some wonderful raspberry jam to add to its buttery blissfullness!
I saw you as a favorite on Michael Rodgers, I clicked your avatar, I read the the first few lines of this post and thought, "damn that is one passionate and horny poet." So I clicked Full Post, and guess what. I laughed so hard and even though I've been had, I was NOT disappointed. You are absolutely right, biscuit nirvana is just bliss.

Thoth: *blushing* Glad you liked it! You're welcome here anytime! hee hee
oh, god, you made me so hungry!!! this is fabulous. emigration canyon? what a strange name. do they encourage people to leave utah when they are there? sorry, i'm tired. i'm not a biscuit lover either but your poem and description has me craving jsut that. love love lvoe and gratitude
You're question about Emigration Canyon is just too funny for me! I just had that conversation with the same Aussie friend that debated the biscuit/scone thing. The name of this beautiful canyon comes from the historical event of the Mormon trek westward. Emigration Canyon is the place where the Mormon pioneers first entered the Salt Lake Valley in the mid-1850s. So whether you are emigrating from or to Utah, either way, this is a beautiful canyon to visit.
That looks good - I love biscuits!
Come to Utah Jeanette, and try one for yourself! :)
