Did I Mention I Live In Utah?

Rate: 5 Flag

First, sorry Seafarin' Man, it's more Utah talk!

Monday was a beautiful hot, clear day.  I say hot though that is a relative term but it did reach around 90°F.  Today, Wednesday, we have snow down to the benches.  It is even now trying hard to decide on thunder and hail or patches of blue sky and sun.  The mountains around my town are still quite green though now they also sport the beautiful fall colors of red and yellow.  My oldest and I took a quick drive up one of the local canyons on Sunday and I am sure glad we did because now there is a layer of snow.  If only I had a decent camera and had thought to grab it on Sunday!  As the saying goes, if you don't like our weather, just wait five minutes!

Another sign I'm in Utah?  Yesterday on the radio the news announcer speaking of the Tsunami that hit Samoa reported there were 24 members of the LDS church confirmed dead and that all the missionaries were alive and accounted for.  Hmmm, not sure if that means the tsunami was targeting Mormons or maybe those were just the Mormons not current on their tithing?  God's wrath and all. Imagine my surprise when I heard the national news report deaths of non-Mormons! I'm just sayin...........

Utah's beautiful; I'm going to live there one of these days. But why are there so many Mormons in Samoa?
That Seafarin' Man is an asshat anyway. I miss Utah and the Utes and the Jazz. The snow... not so much.

BTW, this morning's paper says two missionaries are still unaccounted for so they still didn't get their slanted news right.
Nannar, I'll answer that one if you don't mind. Seems that Catholics beat them to the rest of the world but the Mormons snatched up the South Pacific. Lots of Mormons throughout; Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Hawaii... Check out the names on the BYU Football team.
That makes sense Cappy; some of those Polynesians are gargantuan. I'm willing to bet they wanted linemen for BYU as much as they wanted to save souls for the RLDS.
Well, there ya go Nana.. I think Cap'n covered it.
Sorry, Zashin, didn't mean to hijack your post. God is a BYU Football fan, I'm told.
Not a problem Cap'n.
I grieve for the loss of life in Samoa and Indonesia. It is staggering. The first quake yesterday in Samoa was 8 on the Richter scale. This is huge! The next 20 hours ago in Indonesia was 7.6, and just 5 hours ago Indonesia suffered another at 6.6. It must be a nightmare.

And yup, the Samoans are the core of the BYU team; and the BYU team is a great place for Samoans! High schools in Utah develop them for football careers.

And the snow at Alta is still the best in the world! Be there soon...
It is a very sad thing to see. I can't even imagine being in such a situation. To watch the ocean open up and take everthing you own and maybe your family and friends as well in a matter of minutes has got to be one of the most devastating things there is!
Home is where the heart is. Tsunami or not, Utah is cool. Mormons aren't that bad either.

Rated for the weather.
Thanks Thoth and no Mormons are not that bad, in fact most of them are pretty great! :)
Z,
My experience with Mormons--- and I am certain God
thinks the same way---
is that they are too bland and boring
to kill...
