Stinkin' Thinkin': The four horsemen of our apocalypse

Rate: 10 Flag

Xenonlit:  Horse detail from the stagecoach mural.

I've been thinking about comparing thought proccesses between the four horsemen of our nation's apacolypse:  Right wing extremists, sociopaths, drug opportunists and deviant religious thinkers.

These four entities are the precursors that show up just before the decline of great civilizations. They are the announcement that a new teacher, one who could not care less about history, is coming.

It is amazing how drug opportunists and sociopaths think alike. Lying is a fact of their lives because they know that the truth will do the opposite of setting them free.

Their mechanisms for lying are so common and effective. They talk fast and have an answer for everything. They thrive on the promise of a future outcome without thinking about outcomes they promised in the past.  They wear a weak, uninformed, gullible person down when confronted with proof of their lies and bad acts.

Sociopaths and drug opportunists live on the edge of the truth and well across the border with reality. They are as glib, charming or pathetic as they need to be. They think with grandiose expectations of themselves and of life. They are narcissistic to the extreme.

They are incomplete human beings. They are neither alive nor dead. They cannot live completely functional lives and they do far more damage than good.

Political extremists and religious deviants are different. They have external authority to back up their lies, or so they think.

If the ultimate authourity for having their way cannot be found in the constitution, then the authority comes from the bible. If it is not the bible, then it comes from intellects that rely upon twisted interpretations of human intellectual constructs. Political extremists can be highly educated academics and they can be poorly educated, even illiterate.

Whenever they are confronted, they cite lie after lie before anyone can check their claims.  They are not whole citizens. They do not care how much they take for themselves. They do not care how little they give to others. "Noblesse Oblige" is a great evil to such people.  They demand to rule over all of us by divine imperative or through corrupted means.

All four of those horsemen are known to out talk and over talk. All four of will claim to have an understanding of the world that is greater than our ability to understand. Well hell yea, verily! We have no business understanding worlds where drug addicts, charismatic religious deviants, pychosocial monsters and political opportunists rule.

We cannot allow the four horsemen to determine what is real and what is not real.

It all comes down to three things the four horsemen of our apacolypse will do to people: control the conversation, make the worst ideas seem reasonable and determine what is true and real.

Thanks to the media, the four horsemen are like the world's worsts street artists who annoy their captive audiences with plates that keep falling off their poles and crashing to the ground. They are busy creeps who cannot  stop seeking audiences for bad plate spinning.

"No no!" They say, "Let me show you this new trick!"

They are  antichrists who advocate everything that Jesus told us not to do. They discourage everything that Jesus did tell us to do. They are the real traitors and they are the most dangerous internal ememies of America. They cannot stop parroting concepts that go against everything we stand and fight for.

Drug addicts, sociopaths, political extremists and religious deviants have no power on their own. They can only slip through the cracks that form when civilizations age and settle into complacency.

The four horsemen flow through our aging civilization's cracks by the thousands now, sweeping up the weak minded, the willing, the greedy, the gullible and the confused.

It is time we called out the liars, overturned the moneylender's tables and turned our backs on the wicked. It is time we opened our eyes and saw the drug addiction epidemic that exists right in our own homes, workplaces, schools, hospitals and police forces.

It is time we had a midterm election with historical turnout by the poor, the formerly well-to-do, the betrayed soldier, the brown and black, the young, the elderly, women and the disenfranchised.

It is time for us to use every power we have, be it the power of one or the power of the many. It is time for us to be so vast we cannot be denied and so unified, we cannot be set against each other.

It it time because a new teacher is coming and we do not understand the lesson. We allowed the most destructive, corrupt administration in our history to steal an election and we allowed that administration to continue the destruction for a second term.  We did not understand that we, here and now, are no more immune from history repeating than any other civilization that exists not or that has existed before.

We made the mistake of allowing the media and the corporations to determine our priorities in life.

The lesson is not at fault. The teacher is not at fault. We have had a very patient teacher named "History". We are at fault because we did not respect or pay attention to the teacher.

A better teacher is coming soon. That teacher is called "The decline of a civilization." The four horsemen are just a sign of times that have happened many times before now.

Zuma, thanks for presenting the thought provoking ideas here and I hadn't considered before the idea how drug opportunists and sociopaths think alike, but I can see pattern now. Double standards and hypocrisy are an everyday happening and only once in a blue moon does it get called out in the MSM, but more often than not it's business as usual.
It is, Designator and you are on the front lines of it! A perfectly normal person becomes a pathological liar and social predator to keep doing something that they cannot stop doing. It's all illegal, expensive, and debilitating! WTF?
Being a sociopath is part of the job description of a drug opportunist. In total agreement with you that it is we who are at fault. You can't fault a dog for barking.
r.
as soon as you identify one of these 4, whip out nail clippers and trim earlobe. you may save 1000's.
Rigidity, tunnel vision, lack of empathy, self-centeredness, and the ability to rationalize away any harm caused characterize both these true believers, as well as the unbelievers and anarchists who justify their lawlessness--all extremists in their own way.
Seer: That's a crack in society and the charismatic "leaders" always manage to come through to tell everyone how and to what to agree.

onislandtime: I threw this out in hope of hearing some other thoughts on this and you did the thinking! Thanks for pointing out the sociopathy of being a drug opportunist.

Al! We're talking about the horsemen, not the horses! And I would never harm a horse like that unless it was a vampire zombie alien human eating horse.

Jackie: Wow, the comments are getting good here. We get way too much "news" about them, but very little thought about who and what they do and are. Thanks.
I suspect that you may have misunderstood what Al said. I agree with him. I weep for you, and those others who understand the situation as you've presented it here. The Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse, invited here by us, have been already; and left in their wake only those remnants of a civilized society necessary to fool us into thinking they did no harm. They will be back.

The political extremists, sociopaths, drug opportunists, and religionists (they're ALL deviant), have taken control of our governments and therefor of our societies.

We have chosen to adopt their philosophies of greed, selfishness, scrambling for power, and lack of concern for our fellow men. We could have stopped them cold at any time we wished to do so; we still can.

No. Not by some big, bloody old revolution. By each of us simply refusing to be like them. All we needed to do is/was to regain our honor. Just be honest, truthful, principled, trustworthy, and caring.

We did not do so. We will not do so. We'll get what we deserve.
.
sky: In your eagerness to disagree with me and to agree with your friend, I think you have actually agreed with my thesis. But don't let me get in the way. I have no doubt that it is done. However, I of anyone here, am proof of miracles.
"We have chosen to adopt their philosophies of greed, selfishness, scrambling for power, and lack of concern for our fellow men. We could have stopped them cold at any time we wished to do so; we still can.
"No. Not by some big, bloody old revolution. By each of us simply refusing to be like them. All we needed to do is/was to regain our honor. Just be honest, truthful, principled, trustworthy, and caring."

Exactly right, Sky. Exactly right. Yet, who among us is "honest, truthful, principled, trustworthy, and caring." ?
Mother Theresa? She's dead.
That's setting the bar too high; that is asking waay too much, to my mind. None of us our perfect. None of us.
Personally, I don't confuse my hopeful, ideological writing with my personal character; I am a flawed, deeply human regular guy hoping for [and writing for] change for the better. It is my belief that it is our honesty alone that sets us apart from the ruling class.
Believe me, I'm no role model. Yet, my words, on paper, are still valid as, say...ANYONE'S.
On our worst days, I'd say that most of us 'regular' people are better than most of the ruling class.
We also need to concentrate on local elections. Too much press is given to the national level and so much crap is getting done on the local that no one knows about. State citizens need to pay attention to the people in the state government and decide if this is what they want.

Take Michigan for example. They had a ballot initiative to defeat the emergency moderator(?) that the state legislature had put in place for failing towns and municipalities. They defeated the law, but they re-elected the people that had put it in place, so the first thing they did was reinstate it with a clause that will not allow it to go on the ballot again. Futile effort. I wonder how many people who voted the initiative out either voted to re-elect their representative or just didn't vote for one at all.
You are a thinker Z, I like that. On my app for "Thinker" I accidentally typed "Drinker" and they sent me instructions on how to make a Bloody Mary. Dick Cheney, whose job when he finally dies (if he ever does die) will be to clean the Devil's toe-nails, said the other day "he would do it all over gain". You got to give it to the asshole, at least he's consistent. Great Post Z~
Just Phyllis: If the midterm is a historical turnout everywhere, the House would be back with the people. There will always be nasty little districts that send nasty little idiots, but they won't have the power they exert right now. The Repugnicans are scrambling to save their party, but it's too late. The crazies have taken hold and they need to realize that they are now a third, very weak party.

Thanks, Kenneth. You got Google brain!
Zuma,
What's up?
I didn't comment in order to "agree with my friend" (who is not, as far as I know, any special friend), I was trying to point out that you and he are NOT so far apart in how you read the situation although further apart in how you'd deal with it.

My mention of how it could be dealt with was supportive of your position because I intended it to be so.

I'll add here that those who excuse themselves by saying, "hey, I'm as honest as the next guy", while admitting that isn't very good, are the biggest problem. When you know that you're doing it wrong yet still continue to do it wrong, what is that?

And all this envious blather about how bad "the rich" are doesn't fool anybody. Very damn few of us would refuse a truck-load of money if it came our way. Do you forget that a good many of "the rich" come from the same roots in our society that we do?

Well, sky, it's called BEING HONEST with myself and others, something the political class has seemed to have a hard time doing for the past fifty years. I'm not perfect, and neither are you, them, or anyfuckingbody else. Now get off your soapbox.

For my answer to this shallow effort at insight, please refer to my post 'economics 101; specifically, the intro, which is my response to Margaret Feike's post 'The Rich Are Different". Then, when you're done eith that, you might reread my post "What's A Slave Worth".
Whore out your own blog much, Stevie?
Sure. Why not. Here:

I'm Steve Kenny and I approved of this message.
Sir Winston Churchill, in Missouri in '54, was sharp enough to perceive the "Iron Curtain" of Cold War fame.

What shall we call the unaccountability, the obvious hypocrisy and double standards of Washington? The Curtain of Oz? The Irony Curtain?

Just some thoughts...
Z, that will help the Hill but it won't help the states. State elections need to be taken more seriously, too. The Repubs are in charge at the local level and it's not pretty. They are doing everything they can to legislate bedrooms because the Hill says they can.
Exactly the strategy Ron Paul endorses.
Hey! Wait a minute! Before you go off on me! Hey! Hey!

Hey; first; sorry about the 'just some thoughts'. It was a subconsious thing! Jeez! [although it's not exactly lifting 'War And Peace', ya' know ;]]

Second, you said: " You appear to be saying that you admit to all kinds of shitty behaviour towards your fellow citizens, but that's OK because you have admitted it!"

Hey. You are jumping the gun, there, fella.

Hey, I admit it. I do have 'all kinds of shitty behaviors'.

"All kinds of shitty behavior", which, by the way, is covered by my conscience but not my insurance policy [no insurance here!], includes: drinking once or twice a week; not visiting my family in Chicago enough [no money]; really disliking Republicans [since 9/11], and masturbation [although not as often as I used to].

Will you accept my apology?
Although I'm not sure it is an apology?
blogwhore elsewhere, Steve. I delete such crap and everyone who is anyone knows it.
Well then delete.

Or do you want to leave my comments up like trophys?
It's a good foursome. The Bridge Game of the Apocalypse.

Part of the way the four control the message is by buying the messengers. Has anyone noticed that Murdock is trying to buy the LA Times? In past years, such consolidation of media control would have been laughable; now, people actually take it seriously. As you put it, a shift in what is considered reasonable.
Burger King has been caught selling horse meat in their burgers but some of these you have spoken about are selling horseshit.

"We made the mistake of allowing the media and the corporations to determine our priorities in life."

HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Don't blame me for all the noise, I'm yelling "Shut Up!" as loud as I can.
Excellent post and thank you for making me think. Midterm elections are coming soon and if we get a good showing there might be hope for the decline of apocalyptic horrors. I had a feeling for awhile that it had to get worse before it could get better and usher in this new age of Aquarius but maybe the worst is over.
The Republicans have to change or die and get rid of the crazies. The horsemen are circling around and I know many of them. I try to change them one person at a time but they don't change. They have to die.
