The "Jobs Speech" Obama SHOULD GIVE

WHAT OBAMA SHOULD SAY IN HIS JOBS SPEECH [AXXel's draft for the President - no charge]

First of all, I want to acknowledge that the Republican side of the aisle has made some very good points in their discussion about the deficit and our very high $14 trillion debt load. It is too high and to just keep throwing our money around, that we really don't have and must borrow, is not a prudent way to jump-start an economy that is basically afraid to invest their already large cash hoard.

I can understand why business is reluctant to invest in new projects and hire people to effect those expansive plans. Business does not know where our government is heading, they are afraid of our overspending on needless foreign adventures and simply giving money away to those that are not contributing to society.

Resultantly, I will order the following departments to reduce staff and expenditures by the following percentages effective immediately:

Further, I will propose that we become energy self sufficient within ten years with a jobs program that will train and install solar and wind installations along every rational mile of the Interstate Highway System and encourage farmers to install solar collectors on their farmland. I will also develop plans to retrofit every house in the country with solar hot water heating and solar heating wherever rational. I will propose that all new construction must be designed to accept solar panels and that panels must be installed and hooked up to the electric grid prior to occupancy. All of this will cost money/ Money that we don't have, but money that we can and should borrow at these historically low rates and give us an investment that will actually give us a real return on that investment.

I have asked that the Department of Defense set their Garmins to "Go Home" and get the hell out of Iraq and Afghanistan. I have also cut off all foreign aid funding effective immediately and this includes the two largest recipients of that aid, Israel and Egypt. Countries that desire foreign aid should knock on someone else's door. Historically, we have shouldered most of that burden. Perhaps in the future we will again. But we will not so do now.

In other small measures, I will suspend Saturday mail delivery, adopt two hours of Daylight Savings Time to encourage families to relax outside rather than sitting inside looking at television because it is dark when they get home.

I will encourage high schools and colleges to compact their teaching and adopt teaching via the Internet using technology such as Ipads. I want to reduce the time spent to acquire a college education by half. I further will offer mandates that will move us to a four-day work week giving our people three-day weekends year-round and eliminating the cost of commuting to work by 20%. I want to encourage companies to allow employees to work from home to further reduce the cost of commuting and the waste that goes with it.

The most important long-term problem that I see and apparently you do as well. In the short-term we can live with $75-100 oil but in the long-term our constant OVER-spending for energy is the most important chink in our economic armor but is also holds most important potential positive in reversing the potential for economic malaise.How can this be, one might ask? Let's assume, just for a moment, that the country could elect a real President with brains and leadership [I know that is an impossible task] and that leader made the following statement on his inauguration day:

" It is time that we became energy independent and stopped sending money to the Middle East for oil whose people in turn use our own money to kill us. I am going to push the country to support the following "Gas Guzzler Tax at the Pump:” In five years, not tomorrow or the day after, but in five years so you can adjust your buying habits and psych if your car does not attain at least 40MPG you will be charged and EXTRA tax of $5.00/gallon that will go directly to the U.S. Treasury. If your car attains a City/Highway rating of at least 50MPG, you will receive a CREDIT of 50 cents per gallon. I know, you are shocked at this kind of tax...I know all the arguments...blah, blah, blah...but what has happened since the 1970's when our "friends in the Middle East" shut down our oil supplies is that prices have gone from $10.00/bbl of oil to $80.00/bbl; gasoline has gone from a buck/gallon to over three/gallon. And just where did most of that money go? To us? Not much. It went to our deal friends in the Middle East who then have so much excess funds that they can afford all sorts of expenditures in trying to kill us. If we keep sending money over there will likely be supporting a technology that WILL bring a nuclear attack here in our midst."

The Speech he SHOULD Have Given

Nine years after we began our war against those who so brutally attacked our country on 9/11. I am here to specifically say to you that our armed services have done your job and you have done your job well. The State of our Union is currently framed fighting two ground wars and restructuring our financial system.

As the Commander and Chief I am expected to lead and a leader must make decisions that will take into account all available knowledge and rationality.

As your Commander-in-Chief I am announcing the immediate withdrawal of all troops from the Mid-east Theater of operations effective immediately. We urge our allies to do the same.

After careful analysis and intensive debate from within and without my administration the decision as to how to proceed in this war is on my shoulders. I take that responsibility and now I give you my rationales and how we will deal with these countries and these threats in the future.

A country must determine with careful consideration what its primary and secondary interests are. Failure to determine these priorities leads to poor allocation of important national assets and most importantly how and when to enter into war and when it is necessary to put in harm’s way those men and women of our armed services who are obligated to enforce all lawful and just actions of our country.

We entered Iraq under a stated analysis from the Executive Branch of our government that was based upon totally false and misleading information. It was a mistake to have attacked Iraq and it is a mistake to stay there. Iraq has duplicity in this regard; they could have at any time opened up their country to total inspection and disproved these false allegations. They did not and share in the responsibility of the aftermath. We offer no apology but we will now correct that mistake and leave.

The stated rationale for our incursion into Afghanistan was to attack the bases from which we were attacked on 9/11 and to arrest those responsible. I have determined that “nation-building” by the United States in Afghanistan is not in our primary interest and therefore order all our military to exit that theater as soon as possible in a manner that will protect our troops.

One of the primary strengths of our country is our ability defend ourselves. That takes money and capital. To squander that asset in wars that are not in our primary interest is to damage our national security, not improve it, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have done exactly that over the past eight years. I am going to immediately end the squander of $100 billion/year in this region. Additionally, effective immediately, the United States will end its foreign aid commitments to both Israel and Egypt by 50% over the next three years and to zero after that period. We are ending our troop involvement in South Korea, Okinawa and Germany.

In regard to war and our ability to wage it we have two primary advantages: 1. Our technology and, 2. Our asset base of capital and highly educated people.

In future conflicts we will use those assets to promote our primary interests. We warn any country that attempts to attack our primary interests that they will be met, not with troops on the ground as they would like, but with a technology that will give them great pause and with collateral damage that will be on the shoulders of those who do not now heed my warning. I warn in no uncertain terms that those who use this reduction in troop exposure will not mean that they are immune to the sting of the United States. I am certain that we will be tested in this regard and we are ready for that test.

Additionally, I am removing all U.S. troops from Europe, Okinawa and South Korea.

These measures will attempt to bring our fiscal house in order. Finally, in regard to heath care, I am urging the congress to continue to advance the taxing of those with high incomes but at the same time to impose a 3% Federal Health Sales Tax on all purchases up to $1,000 so that every legal person in our country is afforded adequate health care and has an awareness of its costs. If we are successful in squeezing out efficiencies and these taxes are not needed then I am sure Congress will find a way to reduce or eliminate them. But the time of the great “handout” is over. We are going to run a balanced budget. We are gong to pay for things we want up-front, as we go. Our kids and grandkids will not carry our wasteful burden. We are going to put the Social Security system in the black and we are going to eliminate all Federal debt.

In regard to immigration I am going to urge only if the Federal Health Tax is approved a complete end to immigration into the United States for a period of 50 years and that those attempting to enter the country illegally may be dealt with by deadly force at our borders.

In so doing, our defense capability will be the strongest in the world, the most flexible and if needed, the most feared and respected.

I anticipate that the county will intensely debate these new proclamations that I have made here today. Many will disagree. It is the way. But I am the leader of this country; I was elected to guide us for these four years or perhaps longer and the people have a right to see their leader use circumspection and rationality. I do this because I think it is right.

OBAMA'S SPEECH ON AFGHANISTAN & TROOP LEVELS

I am here at West Point eight years after we began our war against those who so brutally attacked our country on 9/11. I am here at West Point to specifically say to you here in the Army and indeed in all of our services that you have done your job and you have done your job well.

You West Pointers will be come the officer cadre of the Army just as Annapolis is for the Navy and Marines and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. As officers you will be expected to lead. You will be expected to develop strategies of war that will win and you will be held responsible for any unwarranted expenditure of blood to accomplish those goals in the future. Yours will not be an easy task but you have accepted it and like those before you, you will prevail in that task. Your decisions many times will not be well accepted or understood in the heat of battle. You will make errors of judgment and if you are good at your job, you will examine not your successes but rather your mistakes, your errors of judgment and you will correct them. Battle plans of the future based in concrete are battle plans that our enemies can anticipate. You must be flexible in your thinking, be willing to think out of the box for sure and determine how to best defeat an enemy that knows no geographic boundaries, no installed targetable leadership but is every bit as dangerous as a Hitler or a Tojo. We must take at face value threats by those leaders who aim to destroy us.
