This year, don’t make the usual New Year’s Resolutions. Stop trying to lose weight, climb the corporate ladder, spend more time with your kids, travel to new and exciting places. Anyone can do that. Make 2010 the year of impossible dreams. An earth with clean air, water and soil. People living in communities bound by love and connection. Children with strong families and healthy, alert minds. A world we cherish and leave better than we found it.

Here is how WE can manifest those impossible dreams (we’ll do it together):

Step 1: Embrace where you are NOW. Surrender to it. Every thing is perfect and as it should be. No thing has happened to you, but for you. For US. Love this place for all that it has given and all that you have learned.

Step 2: Look in the mirror until you see the ONE staring back at you. See and re-member who you really are. A divine soul in a human body having a human earthly experience. Close your eyes until you can open them. Allow the veils to fall away. Your soul or “great dreamer” has a desire for this world and will be sorely disappointed if you don’t figure it out. Stop sleep walking through your existence.

Step 3: Be a witness to your life. As often you can re-Member. Observe the ego taking over and when YOU are not the ONE. Release judgement. Above all forgive the ego’s childish antics. We do ourselves the most damage when we punish ourselves repeatedly long after we lost control. The ego is a juvenile teacher. Time to graduate. As witness, you will soon see how you have also contributed to the radiating spiral of collective life. We all have. Sit back and let it sink in that you are a powerful, creative force of nature. YOU. Now take back your soul’s will.

Step 4: Ask yourself “what challenge can I stop resisting right now?” It is always our choice. Are you ready to let go of what ever it is that holds you back? The clearest and truest answer comes when you ask yourself, "if I knew the answer to this problem/question, what would it be?" Voila. It will be there.

Step 5: Banish fear. Fear is ego. Ego is afraid of failing and losing control over you. When you feel fear taking over, re-Member who you are. Failure is not only an option, it is ESSENTIAL to manifesting your dreams. Fail often and enthusiastically. As Babe Ruth reportedly stated, “Every strike is one step closer to a home run.”

Step 6: Shake things up. Ask yourself “How can I show up more fully in my life?” We are creatures of habit and prefer our comfort zones. If you are not growing, you are dying. Make a commitment to shake up your routines periodically. We have learned SO much about ourselves in the last year. Through the many discomforts and anxieties we have discovered strength, faith, courage and love in magnitudes previously unknown. There is no destination in the universe more amazing than the inner contours of your own potential for growth and change. I dare you to squeeze the impossible from inertia.

Step 7: Stop wasting time. Time, while a darned impressive illusion, is our most valuable resource. Take a media/web/news fast. Never check email more than twice a day (I’m working on this, too). Be amazed by how much time that alone frees up to think and breath and hear your soul dream. And then find more ways to cut away the clutter and distractions. No meetings. Condense errands. Buy less. Stop multi-tasking (according to many studies you accomplish much LESS doing more than one thing at a time).

Step 8: Your body IS the temple of your precious soul so take care of it! It’s gotta hold out for your unique mission. Eat whole clean foods off local organic vines and exercise regularly. Avoid chemicals, environmental and electronic pollution.

Step 9: Seek and welcome the counsel, friendship and support of those who LOVE the earth and all her creatures; Children, elders, poets, scientists, athletes, financiers, theologians and waitresses. We are living in infinite costumes and roles. Together we can make the IMpossible probable.

Step 10: Ask yourself “what can I do for the world with my life? How can I make a difference?” Each and every one of us came here with unique gifts to share. What joy and talent did you come here with? Think about your intuitive impulses and interests from childhood and when you lost track of time or felt blissfully engaged? Passive activities like watching TV or reading do not count. Tap that gift, deepen it if necessary and share it with the world.

If you knew that you were a real live super hero, what would your road ahead look like? I bet you wouldn’t be thinking about “realistic” goals anymore. Be the child in the toy store who knows no limits and has no concept of lack. Make the impossible not only possible but probable.

What challenge are your ready to stop resisting?

Say Hey by Michael Franti

Seems like every where I go, the more I see, the less I know.
But I know one thing, that I love you.
I love you, I love you, I love you!
