The United States

Obama versus The United States

Although much can and should be made of Barack Obama's utter and now demonstrated lack of qualification to be president, his enthusiastic willingness to break facile campaign promises, his allergy to facts and the truth, and his magnetic affinity for advisors that are as amateurish and philosophically unwholesome as he is, let not the trees obscure the perception of the most basic reasons why this catastrophic colt should be pasteurized in November.

Even the vainglorious Obama would admit that he's no student of history. This is critical because he either doesn't know, or finds it politically expedient to ignore, the real sources of America's greatness as most profoundly expressed in years when Obama was awaiting birth.

The emergence of the United States as the most powerful country in the world was not God's will, or the consequence of any other spooky cause. It was the combination of two factors—one natural and one man-made.

The United States has incredible natural resources—oil, gas, water, and coal. (It shares sun and wind with the globe in general.) The United States has also developed a system of government which has had a unique ability to unleash the creative impulses of a free people, resulting in a little thing called productivity.

Obama has attacked both these sources of American exceptionalism. He has curtailed development of natural resources and has used political power to put as many obstacles as he can in the path of private enterprise. As a result, America is spiraling down toward the planet's lowest common denominator.

Whether Obama's war on America is motivated by ignorance, the influence of ideological zealots, a morbid quest for personal political power and/or a luxurious life style is, in a very substantial sense, beside the point. If he and his pack are sent packing in November, the reasons for his assault on America will be rendered moot. Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Obama and the Faithful

Although this may understandably come as news to those who depend upon the MSM and Obama-besotted cable and internet media for their information, an impressive collection of Catholic organization are suing the ass of the Obama administration on account of an aspect of Obamacare that, in the opinion of the plaintiffs, violates the religious liberties of Catholics.

Any self-respecting Jew who votes for Obama should seek counseling for bipolar disorder.

Mormons will flock en masse to Romney who, throughout his life, has been a faithful tithe-paying member in good standing.

Extreme leftists, whose zealotry qualifies them as a quasi-religious cult, have turned Obama's picture to the wall on account of his revolutionary reservations.

So what's left? Protestants, I guess, even though that group tends not to vote as a bloc. Atheists are a lost cause, as most of them tend to be ultra-rational and therefore conservative, not believing either that money grows on trees or that political, as opposed to economic power, can sustain a society once its productive elements give up.

Not easy to choose from among the numerous entries, but the following strike me as the most humorous and desperate of the moves of the Obama campaign to date:

Biden lecturing the Republicans on choosing a candidate with presidential qualifications. Obama clearly had none and has spent the past three + years demonstrating the consequences. This takes the pressure off Biden, who however qualified on record, wipes it all away with a lack of judgment that is virtually unprecedented. Due to elaborate attention to health through exercise, relaxation and generous holiday time, Obama has been able to keep Biden in the docks, but let's not press our luck.

The spectacle of the President and Congressmen trying to apply pre-decision pressure on the Supreme Court regarding the forthcoming verdict on Obamacare. The idea that intellectuals who through years of scholarship have reached the highest and tenured position in the third, and ultimately paramount branch of government would pay any attention to presidential and congressional twerps who are the very essence of "here today, gone tomorrow" is truly laughable. For most of Americans, tomorrow can't come too soon.

Martin v. Who?

T. Martin and Who? A while back, the local, state, and national media became aflame with the story of a black youth being shot and killed by a basically, if not completely white. A few weeks ago, two young white reporters from the Virginian-Pilot newspaper were set upon and beaten up by a gang of black youths. This event was not reported by the victims' employer newspaper during the two weeks the reporters were out of work nursing their injuries. To date, the reporting of the crime in the media has ranged from scant to none. To test my theory, ask someone if the victims' names are known to them.

On prior occasions, Obama has indicated no hesitancy in commenting upon news items of a non-presidential matter if the color is right. The Norfolk victims also suffered from not resembling any of Obama's phantom offspring. And where are Chauney and Bill Beck, Open Salon's professional blacks?

There are two possible explanations for this non-disclosure. The first is that the press, in the interest of race relations, should soft peddle stories not flattering to blacks. This is, of course, a blatant violation of journalistic standards. Of course, another explanation is possible, one that is highly disrespectful to blacks. That is that the Norfolk story is a case of "dog bites man"—hardly a big deal. But the reverse—"man bites dog" is a real happening.

Two Commanders: Obama and MacArthur Once the initial obscenity of mentioning the two in the same sentence subsides, some amusing comparisons can be made. For example, MacArthur ended his final address to West Point cadets by saying, "The corps, the corps, the corps." Had he been informed by Obama's take on the English language, it would have come out, "The corpse, the corpse, the corpse," which would probably have made a different impression on the audience. The only characteristic shared by the two Supreme Commanders is a supreme ego, the difference being that the General's was based on a high intellect (we have HIS academic record) and a lifetime of heroic achievement, whereas as Obama's is shakily based on a demonstrably routine intelligence resulting in . . .
