Be careful what you ask Santa for, it could be your undoing. I asked for patience and humility. This morning to my surprise he left me a room full of videos (I thought I put Blue Ray on my list) of the all the health care bill committee meetings, news reports, debates in the house and senate, newspaper clippings and white house press releases. A large gift-wrapped box with a wide ribbon of red, white and blue contain a stack of papers and note that said; “read the bill and see if there is anything for exclusive coverage for senior reindeer that are on low-income pensions. Mrs. Clause is having mental health issues and North Pole for Life had dropped her coverage to 3 visits and then wrote her off after cashing our premium payment check. The elves on the other hand are not reproducing like they used to even though they still hop around like bunnies - their insurance won’t pay for artificial insemination. As you may have guessed my weight is a little over the top – the good news is that I am not going to be dropped, but will have to pay a per pound penalty capped at ten dollars per pound per month.”

I started reading the bill then noticed the pages weren’t numbered – Santa left me a puzzle and a test of my patience. Thanks Santa, your wisdom has shown me how many ways a man can say; ‘No’ to helping another and the cost to say; ‘Yes’.

Note to self: Nix wish list to Santa in 2010.

Health Care - Just Looking for Facts?

Help - I am trying to get my arms or whatever around this health care issue. I am what you might call neutral - somewhere between mid-sixties and death.

So, what is all the fuss about? Sounded like the Hatfields and McCoys going at it on a news bite on public radio this past Friday?

Todays Wall Street Journal featured an article about healthcare in England and saying animals get better care than humans. My guess it is because they don't smoke, drink or do drugs and the unfit ones are put to sleep.

Some say we can't afford healthcare?

(But we seem to able to bail out the banks / insurers / autos - that may not be a valid point - maybe they will give us the money back?)

Others say we will force healthcare providers to perform abortions?

Will I have to travel to Cuba for new hip?

Canada is worst place for healthcare or was it Germay?

If I am young and have a family and my employer doesn't provide healthcare I can always count on what?

Or laid off and can't afford my cobra my family and will be able to do what?

How are you coping healthcarewise?

What would you be telling congress?

My Shadow

Are shadows real? And if they are not real why do I have one?

Is it a gift we all have a shadow and sometimes more than one?

Perhaps, just like emotions and opinions, shadows are a contast to the light and the dark or is dark to the light?

So what makes any shadow special? Or, are they just something to play with?

Am I special when I cast a big shadow or an unpretentiously small shadow?

Creation has a lot of shadows - Where is yours?

How do I fit in? This morning, parked / living in my soon to be repo'd car at one of the local 24 - 7 grocery store's parking lot. My discovery, here I can stay and not be bothered while near to a clean restroom to freshen up. My heart awaits the morning sun and soon to start dumpster diving after they pitch the old and outdated, like me. I pray that my mom can't see me like this - its Mother's Day.
