Journalism may be going all to hell.

But there are a few worthwhile gigs left, apparently, and I count doing a video interview with Savanna Samson as one of them.

If I was a smarty, I'd mine this 20 minutes of chat for about five magazine articles ... oh, wait! It would take me a month to try to sell them ...

Well, maybe.

The Naked Reader Book Club: That is So NOT Sexy!

Mostly, when I write humor for publication, I find that by the time I am reallyreallyREALLY done with a piece, it no longer makes me laugh and I may even be unsure if it's funny, even if I was ROTFLMAO all the way through the first draft. So I make a few friends read whatever it is. If they laugh, I alert my editor that we're good to go.

But this one stayed funny the whole time ... at least to me. And it's the kind of piece I think (some) OS readers will like; it's the kind of thing I would post here, if I had the time to write for free.

The 10 Most Underrated Sexual Acts of ... Friday Afternoon

Having recently posted a list of 34 Kinds of Sex, and now read, as has everyone else here, about 16 Kinds of Overrated Sex, I feel perfectly qualified to write the above headline and then stare at this screen, wondering what the fuck I'm going to type and expecting the worst.

Here goes:

1) Sex outdoors, as long as someone remembered the blanket and the weather is nice. I don't see how anyone can disagree, really; but it must be underrated or more people would get arrested for trying it.

2) Mutual masturbation in the car. And yes, you should practice, first, while parked, and it is no fun in heavy traffic or other hazardous road conditions. Remember what happened to the kid in The World According to Garp?

3) Anything involving light bondage, so long as the rope-tieing does not become an end in itself, which I think it does for many in the BDSM crowd. Underrated by anyone who hasn't tried it playfully with someone they really like.

4) Sex with a Stranger is everyone's fantasy to the point where it is both one of the most overrated AND underrated sex acts. It can be horrible, yes. Think Mr. Goodbar. But it can be so very good that it's worth trying until you get it right at least once.

5) Sex with someone you've known a long time but you're "just friends" and never thought you would fuck, or even considered it. Conventional wisdom is that you will wreck the friendship. Even if the odds are 50-50 on that, it can be worth trying. Trust me on this.

6) Sex in Watery Places is listed by Beth as overrated. We'll agree to disagree. In the shower? I'll give you that. Hot tub? Not so bad. Outdoors in a nice clean lake ... or in warm salt water just out beyond the breakers? The weightlessness is fabulous, that people off in the distance suspect you're fucking is a turn-on and it feels delicious all over.

7) Sex in a Library. I've never had it, but I refuse to give up the idea that it might be really hot.

8) Sex in my Girlfriend's Basement Art Studio. We haven't tried that yet, either -- she's just getting it set up this weekend. I know, basements can be icky. But ... well, would y'all mind if I skipped numbers 9 and 10, for now, while I go research this?
