Adore:

1. I adore the fact that there are so few acronymic phrases here. You all really enjoy using your fat, witty, well-chosen words - and I love you for it. I have not seen an LOL, OJ, S2S, T+, or ^URS yet. I did see a LMAO the other day - but that one might be alright because the word Ass is implied. The only abbreviation that I might consider is LSHIJTUIMW (Laughing so hard I just threw up into my wastebasket).

2. In the same vein, I adore the fact that I don't see any asterisks in swear words. F*ck, sh*t, p*ssy & c*cksucker are for cowards (and those who are stupid enough to friend their Grandma on Facebook). You people tend to go for it - heroically spelling out every obscenity. Thank you.

3. I adore the fact that I can come here, day after day, and find some fucking brilliant stuff. Many of you are preternaturally talented and I am truly in awe.

Don't adore:

4. This one relates directly to #3.

There is just no competing with that kind of brilliance. For me linear thought is a luxury. And anything that can be written between "Mom!" and "Mommmmmmmyyyyy!" will have to do. I will try to learn to be content with my role as Supreme Appreciator - all the while seething with jealousy.

5. I really do have things that need to be done - and, somtimes, places to go. Is it possible that OS could be Closed one day a week to give me a chance to do my laundry - or read a book to my children?

Someone recently wrote a post asking how many hours a week one needs to devote to become a good OSer. I say the answer is 168 - because if you ever left you might miss something good.
