Yumbo !

Let your mind ( and your wrist ) loose ! ~ like Paul Klee said, it's ( just ) taking a line for a walk ... in this case, around a scrunched up piece of paper ...

Mine is a direct copy from Rita B's blog ~ feel free to scrunch your own !

( If you'd like to enter but don't want to make a whole post, pm me ; I'll give you my email & put your scrunch up here for you with an attribution of your choice, eg. Eviction Notice 4, M Feike, + date )

How do animals survive if they don't use drugs ?

I know people run, but that's not what I'm asking.

By now I hope you'll all have your heads around the idea of a mammal that lays eggs. This arrangement is called a monotreme ( one treme ).

There are only two monotremes on the planet, so there's no need for "I'm never going to remember all this !"

One is the Platypus ; the other, the Echidna.

The Platypus has fur ; the Echidna has spikes.

Both lay eggs, which sets them apart from other mammals.

The Platypus grows to about 64 feet in length, and eats cars with people inside them. The Echidna on the other hand grows to about 18 inches, eats ants, and is a shy nocturnal affair that rolls itself into a ball at the slightest provocation.

The difference in size alone makes it easy to distinguish between the two. My mate Bruce once shot a Tourist Bus, thinking it was a Platypus, and then his vacuum cleaner, thinking it was an Echidna, even though it hadn't eaten any ants, but Bruce is insane.

If there's anything else you need to know before travelling Downunder, give me a bell.

pics : platypus2.com.au.

echidna : abc.net.au

Your house for the first time, not knowing what ; certainly not a kiss, hug or Good to see you-thanks for coming, although you asked me to come, and I'd said yes. I'd thought maybe a Hi ...

It's beautiful ~ I mean, at first glance, first impressions : beautiful. All the wood. Ceiling beams, picture rails, timber frames, the floor. The rugs so bright ; cushions, flowers, pictures ; windows, all that green ; the water ! I love this place !

..........................................................................................................

Knocking waiting anxiously. Marvin Gaye. Was this the right address, the right time, the right person ? Crazy doubts, no doubt. Footsteps, Hi !

Wrong of me to bring flowers ? I mean what was this ? Not a date ~ an anti-date ? I just hate arriving anywhere empty-handed. Makes me feel I'm there to rob the place.

Oh ! Aren't they beautiful ! I love them ! How did you know ? Kiss, hug, Good to see you thanks for coming ! Come in ~ we've been waiting !

All eyes and smiles. Hi ; half of them I think I know from by-lines, photos on the backs of books, tv interviews. I guess the rest are partners. Hi ...

The murmur resumes as she ushers me back to the kitchen. Now, which vase ? she asks. Would you like a drink ?

..........................................................................................................

I'm having a few people over on Friday night ~ why don't you come, and meet some of my friends ? You'll like them, I know.

.........................................................................................................

Hospital white. Can we go into the garden ? Are we allowed ? Sure we're allowed ~ would you like a coffee ?

( I'll check to see ( picks up the phone ) My friend is here ~ can we go into the garden ? No, she's not a relative ; she's my friend. Yes she checked in ... Ok, thanks.)

Another three weeks, I think. What day is it ? Did you bring any tobacco ?

They're ok. Only one, for murder, it was his wife. How've you been ?

..........................................................................................................

He's the guy I was telling you about ~ you know : him. No, you wouldn't think so looking at him, would you ?

Though they help me when you're gone

Look, here's Jan and Alvie ! Hi gorgeous ! Loved it, just loved it ! How are the kids ?

Take the place of you being there

Well I don't think I've found the voice I've been looking for, you know ? It needs to be soft, but with that menace ... did you read ...

No other sound is quite the same

I told him, Things are done differently here. Either they accept that, or ...

as your name

... he was set up. Everyone knew except ...

No touch

... This is is so ...

can do half as much

No, that's him. I don't know either. No idea.

Ain't nothing like the real thing ...

..........................................................................................................

I love your house.

Did you see your picture, over there ?

My god, you framed it ?

I love it.

You'd better get back to your friends. I need a cigarette ~ can I go into your garden ?

Just a minute, I'll check ... ( pretends to pick up a phone ) "Ok, thanks." She says, "Yes" ;-) ~ Can I come too ?

..........................................................................................................

I woke up in your house. The sun streamed in ; everything was quiet. My life had changed. Somewhere along the line, I'd gone from here to there. I don't remember when that happened. Maybe it was toward the end of a conversation I was having with someone I'd only just met ; when he looked up at me having refilled his glass and said, I can see why she loves you.

I hadn't known that.

I woke up in your house. It was raining. I made some coffee and sat by a window. You came in.

..........................................................................................................

You came into the kitchen while I was sitting reading a poem ; I didn't notice not at first there were tears in your eyes when you sat beside me

Looking up my hand my fingers went to your hair

waited for the words

Nothing's easy nothing's safe especially while we sleep or wake to an empty space we need to talk we need to say ...

but we're waiting for the words ...

There's a life behind me catching up and sometimes screaming past around my ears and headlong into what we have, together

Now, we'll make some tea - you had a dream, you said, and it left you scared - about ?

Us, you said. You. And were still.

Waiting for the words

We're waiting for the words
