Oh, he might have seemed real, something we believed in, which made him real. But in the true meaning of the word real, no, Edward was not.

He has, however, taught all of us a lot: how to be a friend, how to have fun and how to eat well; all the good things in life that make a person happy. That was Edward’s lot in life, to show us how to be happy.

Edward didn’t write a novel or a self-help book. Edward didn’t even invent something worth using; or even something not worth using, as far as I know. Edward wasn’t even a very good public speaker. But what he did say, at times, could in its brevity, speak volumes. Mostly, though, Edward was a teacher. He wouldn’t say he was a teacher or any kind of educator. Edward would never say anything of the sort about himself; but a teacher he was, if only by example.

By reading stories about Edward and his life, a person cannot but come away with a better sense of self and a smile. The best friend anyone could have, Edward may have gotten into trouble plenty, but he always came out on top and happy. Edward may have made mistakes and perhaps, didn’t always learn from them; but we learned from his mistakes just reading about them. Edward was always the best friend anyone could ask for. He was always there for support and always seemed to do the right thing even if it didn’t seem like it at the time.

Edward only had a few close friends and really only one good friend. All of Edward's friends were smart. Each one of them had their own little way of talking and thinking, but somehow, Edward fit in with all of them. Edward could talk to his most intelligent friends or the plainest, and never change being Edward. He was the same with all of them, and that is what they liked. Always, everyone loved Edward. The only person Edward ever looked up to was his best friend, Chris. Chris was real. Chris loved Edward. Edward loved Chris.

Edward tried to learn as much as he could from Chris. It didn’t always work that way, because Edward could get distracted by fun, but Chris didn't mind, and Edward didn't mind either.

We have all learned from Edward: from his beliefs and lifestyle to his ability to be friends with everyone and love of good food. Edward was perhaps a genius at times and not at others but always we love him, just the same. Edward taught us to find fun in everyday things. That is genius.

Edward Bear, better known to you by his nickname, Winnie-the-Pooh, lives in New York and you can visit him there if you want. He resides with four of his closest lifelong friends: Eeyore, Kanga, Piglet and Tigger. You can find all of them living in the Children's Room at the New York Public Library in the Schwarzman Building at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street.

Here, in its entirety, in three parts, is one of my favorite stories of Edward Bear’s life: Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.

(Feel free to come back and watch at your leisure.. less than 10 min. each, less than 30 minutes total time... make the time to watch. It's worth it. Remember to smile and enjoy life. Fun is in the everyday things.)

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Winnie the Pooh at the NY Public Library

Afternoon Quicky with Wendy 4.26.09

Stomp Online make sure to click on the interactive tab..there is more video of them there.

Stomp Brooms They use so many different things as instruments.
